Armidale - Brushy Mountain
13th - 15th March 2009

This trip was a recce to determine times and distances for future club trips. We travelled to Armidale on the Friday along the New England Highway and stayed at Dumaresq Dam located about 12km north-west of Armidale. We saw some Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos and did a pleasant walk around the dam. Being so close to town, the campsite has the potential to be overrun by noisy locals, especially on Friday or Saturday nights. On Saturday, we headed through Walcha and on to Brushy Mountain where it proceeded to rain heavily for most of the afternoon and evening. Because the trees were stopping the sun from drying out the canvas, we had to pack up wet, but visited the lookout a bit further down the mountain. Since the sun was now shining, we opened up the camper to dry out while we had morning tea.
